Each year, American and Japanese students engage in a nine-day exchange program with the mission to learn about each other’s countries and cultures. The Tomodachi Kakehashi Inouye Program provides 100 students from America and 100 students from Japan the chance to promote a mutual understanding between the people of Japan and the United States. Just four universities in the U.S. were selected to partner with four universities in Japan to facilities the exchanges.

HPU students were selected to travel to Japan from March 4 to 12 to attend lectures on Japanese economy, politics, society, history, culture, and diplomatic relations. Students also had the chance to participate in school exchange programs, visit educational sites and institutions.

The 17 HPU students are:

  • Amanda Krog, marine biology major
  • Cloë Parks, psychology major
