Hawaiʻi Pacific University Visual Arts faculty Paul Levitt and Alla Parsons received the distinct honor of having their works chosen for display in the prestigious Artists of Hawaiʻi Biennial 2024 exhibition presented by the Downtown Art Center (DAC) and on display until December 21.
In a blind jurying process, juror Tom Klobe, professor emeritus University of Hawaiʻi Art Department and founding director of the University of Hawaiʻi Art Gallery, reviewed nearly 2,000 works by 576 artists, selecting 356 pieces in the first round. Levitt and Parsons were among the 159 artists of 202 works Klobe chose for the final 2024 Artists of Hawaiʻi exhibit.
"Art is not just a personal passion but a vital part of our community and education,” said Visual Arts Instructor Alla Parsons. “Working with students at Hawaiʻi Pacific University allows me to share this passion and inspire the next generation of artists.”
“Whatʻs Going On?!” and “Hoomaluhia Peaks” are Parsons' two oil on canvas works displayed in the exhibit. Levitt has an acrylic on wood piece displayed in the DAC exhibit, “Lady with Optics.”
Works will be displayed at the Downtown Art Center until December 21.
