The Office of Information Technology Services provides and supports technology that is useful, innovative, and integral to the delivery of university curriculum and to the fulfillment of the University’s mission and vision.

VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

CIO Cody Down

The VP/CIO of the IT department, Cody Down, comes with more than 20 years of IT experience, including 10 years of both technical and managerial experience at the University of Washington and a Master of Science in Information Systems from Minot State University. His office is responsible for ITS management, strategic vision and planning, budgeting and contract management, project oversight, department outreach, staff development, and IT Representation in various senior leadership committees.

Instructional Technology and Client Services

Director, MARK NITTA

The department of Instructional Technology and Client Services provides IT support to the University Community, including the Oceanic Institute and five Military Campuses. Duties include the purchasing of, setup, and support for desktops, VDIs, printers and phones, as well as technical support for Wi-Fi access, desktop software suites, password resets, and other frontline technical issues.
Technical support is offered for over 60 classrooms and more than 12 conference rooms throughout the campuses. Audio & Visual support is also provided for faculty, staff, and student events.

Enterprise Applications and Data Management

DIRECTOR, ANDREA LEUNG

Enterprise Application and Data Management is one of the departments reporting to the VP and Chief Information Officer at Hawaii Pacific University. ITS EADM designs, acquires or develops, implements and maintains academic and administrative computing resources to support the HPU Community. ITS EADM continuously aspires to re-engineer university processes using the latest technology to leverage current investment in digital solutions and resources.

InFRASTRUCTURE AND DATA CENTER OPERATIONS

Director, TABITHA HUTCHINGS

HPU Infrastructure and Data Center Operations carries a broad range of responsibilities to ensure the operation of the university’s IT systems. This includes managing the datacenter servers and storage systems, virtualization of servers and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Active Directory, and administration of Azure and Microsoft 365.

eSPORTS

DIRECTOR, jORDAN oLIVER

As Director of Esports at HPU, Jordan Oliver oversees the first and only esports arena in Hawaii - a 3000 sq ft HPU Esports Arena. Leading a team of 15 staff members, his role also includes managing HPU varsity esports teams, recruitment strategies, and orchestrating a variety of tech, gaming, and community events. The HPU Esports Arena operates seven days a week, is open to the public, and plays host to the State's largest gaming events.

Through stimulating esports business development and career opportunities in Hawaii, Jordan has positioned HPU Esports as a leader in the region. Developing strategic community partnerships, off-site conventions, and offering vibrant esports camps and educational experiences are core to this role. His responsibilities also extend to marketing, operational management, budgeting and ensuring the seamless execution of HPU's strategic plan.

NETWORKING AND CYBERSECURITY

INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER

Ryan Montgomery

The Information Security Officer (ISO) leads the cyber-security and networking teams at HPU. The ISO is the primary resource for all the university’s cyber-security defense and is the designated person assigned to work on internal/external audits and compliance issues. As ISO, Ryan plans and implements industry standard cyber security training, policies and procedures and ensures that the HPU network is secure. He also provides oversight and management of the wired, wireless network, and phone system platforms, along with their associated technical teams.

  • Weekly: Every Thursday from 12:05am - 4:00am HST
  • Weekly: Every Saturday beginning at 11:00PM HST and ending 7:00AM HST the following Sunday

During maintenance windows, the following services will be intermittently unavailable, and are not expected to be fully functional:

  • Equipment - wired and wireless networks, phones, VDIs, physical desktops, printing / MyPrint / scanning.
  • Software applications - Banner Admin Pages, Banner Self-Service, Cognos, Workflows, ISSM, BDM, FormFusion, IntelleCheck, DegreeWorks, CashNet, Samba, Redcap, Axiom, eAccounts Management, MyHPU (Password Management), Salesforce, MachForms (Form Submission), Cascade CMS, help.hpu.edu, door access, www.hpu.edu.

The following services rely on our Single Sign-On system. If you are already on to the application and do not need to re-authenticate, they will continue to function. Scheduled maintenance of these applications is performed by the respective vendors and will be communicated separately.

  • MyHPU Portal, Blackboard, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, etc.), Gmail, EAB APS, CourseDog, Anthology, Adobe CS, Adobe Sign, Mana’o, OCLC, Agiloft, MedProctor, Watermark, Panopto, StarRez.
