Career Outcomes
The mission of the Career Development Center is to provide students with the necessary resources to be highly competitive individuals in the college-to-career transition. Recognizing that the global workplace is a forever-changing environment, the Career Development Center supports students to be prepared, adaptable, dynamic and resourceful, while embodying the values of Pono, Kuleana, and Aloha.
Students will demonstrate resourcefulness and independent decision-making that aligns their academic interests with a progressive career development plan that positions them for professional success.
- Measure: Career Uncertainty Questionnaire
- Details/Description: Students will complete a short questionnaire after meeting with advisor/director for MBTI/SSI or career path guidance. The questionnaire will measure student's comfort with the uncertainty in the career development process.
- Acceptable Target: 55% of students completing the questionnaire will respond "yes" to the question, "Are you now more comfortable with the uncertainty about your career path and willing to be flexible and put yourself in the path of opportunity?”
- Ideal Target: 75% of students completing the questionnaire will respond "yes" to the question, "Are you now more comfortable with the uncertainty about your career path and willing to be flexible and put yourself in the path of opportunity?
- Implementation Plan (timeline): Effective July 1, 2016, CSC advisor/director will ask the student to complete the questionnaire after meeting with the student for MBTI/SSI or career path guidance. The student will include name and date on the questionnaire. It will be completed in CSC conference room and submitted to Customer Service Representative in the reception area. Questionnaire responses will be recorded in a spreadsheet saved on the shared drive.

- Supporting Attachments: Critical Thinking Questionnaire
Students will demonstrate the ability to access, identify, and evaluate professional development tools that enable them to correlate their academic pursuits with their career aspirations.
- Measure: Career Planning Analysis
- Details/Description: When students participate in career planning sessions with CDC staff, they will be assessed if they understand how to utilize online resources to help them calculate labor market trends, salaries, and cost of living adjustments that correlate with their career plans. Using the Student Information Sheet, CDC staff will check "Yes" or "No" to the job search section, indicating that the student can or cannot navigate the job search process.
- Acceptable Target: 60% of students are able to navigate the job search process.
- Ideal Target: 75% of students are able to navigate the job search process.
- Implementation Plan (timeline): Effective July 1, 2017, CDC staff will enter results on the Student Information Sheet. Aggregated results will be stored in a spreadsheet.
- Key/Responsible Personnel: CDC staff.
Students will demonstrate the ability to effectively network and interview with prospective employers in their career fields.
- Measure: Interviewing Skills Assessment
- Details/Description: After completing a mock interview with Career Development staff, the student will be assessed on their ability to effectively identify their strengths and weaknesses, including how strengths were developed and what they are doing to improve on weaknesses.
- Acceptable Target: Using the Student Information Sheet (SIS) completed at end of the mock interview, staff will check yes/no to the achievement of this measure with 80% being an acceptable target.
- Ideal Target: Using the Student Information Sheet (SIS) completed at the end of the mock interview, staff will check yes/no to the achievement of this measure with 95% being an acceptable target.
- Implementation Plan (timeline): Effective July 1, 2017, CDC staff will complete the SIS after each student’s mock interview. Aggregated results will be stored in a spreadsheet.

Details/Description: Students requesting resume review assistance will produce employer-ready resumes upon completion of final resume. CDC staff will determine if a resume is employer-ready.

Acceptable Target: 75% of students’ resumes will be employer-ready.
