Blaise Babineck, Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
Blaise Babineck of O‘ahu enrolled at Hawai‘i Pacific University as a freshman in 2021, accelerating his undergraduate degree coursework and graduating at 18. He developed a passion for chemistry through his AP chemistry course at Maryknoll School and continued to build his knowledge and experiences at HPU. Babineck is a project lead conducting research in the labs of two HPU natural science faculty, a mentor in the Student Instrumentation Mentoring program, a teaching assistant for organic and general chemistry courses, and a research technician at the HPU Center for Marine Debris Research. The HUI Student Research Center (SRC) awarded Babineck the Health Research Concepts Competition National Institute for Health grant, allowing him to begin his own research exploring the endocrine disrupting effects of chemical weathering in marine debris polymers. Babineck is the president of the HUI SRC and the American Chemical Society, HPU Chapter. He is the vice president of the Alpha Chi Honor Society, Hawai‘i Beta Chapter, and was previously the chief of staff for the Student Government Association. Babineck also supports first-year students as a peer mentor and success coach. In the community of Hawai‘i, he is involved with the Islands of Opportunity Alliance Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation Program.
