HPU President John Gotanda will kick off the afternoon on OCTOBER 23 AT 1:00 P.M., by delivering a keynote session, focusing on the power of collaboration, the theme of the seventh annual Fall 2023 Professional Development Conference. This keynote will be in ATM, multipurpose room three (MPR 3). The Blue Zones Project certification presentation will take place directly after President Gotanda's keynote.

After the Blue Zones certification presentation concludes, the celebration event will begin at ATM's center atrium, with a group of distinguished vendors in attendance that includes the Blue Zones Project, HMSA, and Kaiser Permanente. Healthy snacks will be available, interactive activities, Sharky riding a BIKI bicycle, and even the chance to win some exciting prizes!

The Blue Zones Project certification wellness celebration event is expected to end at 3:30 p.m.

The Blue Zones Program, brought to Hawai‘i through an innovative sponsorship by HMSA, is a community-led well-being improvement initiative aimed at making healthy choices easier through permanent changes to lifestyle, environment, policy, and social networks. This program was established in 2010, inspired by Dan Buettner, a National Geographic Fellow and New York Times best-selling author who identified five regions of the world, known as Blue Zones, with the highest concentration of people living to 100 years or older.

The Blue Zones Program envisions a happier, healthier Hawai‘i where people are empowered to care for each other and their community. By instilling sustainable changes that promote well-being and longevity, HPU and the Blue Zones Program are working together to create a brighter and healthier future for everyone in Hawai‘i.
