HPU Connect is free and open to all HPU students and alumni from all academic programs and majors. The initiative is designed to meet the needs of the University’s diverse student population and provide career and internship guidance for its students as they begin their vocations after college.
“HPU’s undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs prioritize the development of critical thinking, communication, information literacy, and creative mastery,” said HPU Manger of the Center for Academic Success Joseph Barnett, Ed.D. “Our students and graduates are well-prepared to contribute these in-demand competencies to our local communities through many different career pathways. We are excited to connect HPU students with major companies and employers for some of the best job opportunities in Hawai'i.”
Topics covered in the free workshops include career competencies, transferable skills, resume and cover letter assistance, interview strategies, mock interviews, connecting majors to careers, elevator pitch, and how to dress for success.
The free career and internship event will see up to 30 employers present from across ʻOahu, including Hawaiian Airlines, Alohilani Resort, Marriott Hotels, State of Hawaiʻi Judiciary, U.S. Secret Service, Northwestern Mutual, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
HPU’s career development center offers students and alumni numerous services to be highly competitive individuals in the college-to-career transition. To learn more click here.
