PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS:

Tropical forest ecology, plant biology, biotic interactions, ecosystem functions, anthropogenic change, science communication

PERSONAL INTERESTS:

Hiking, traveling, painting, reading.

TEACHING INTERESTS:

Gina Errico strives to create a respectful and interactive learning environment where students can truly engage in subject matter. She prioritizes creating thought provoking learning experiences, where students can apply their knowledge and develop real-world skills. Her goal is for students to leave her courses feeling confident in their abilities as scientists and communicators and are more connected to the world around them.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Ms. Errico's research focuses on forest ecology and how it is influenced by anthropogenic effects. More specifically, she studies the growth and survival of tree seedlings in fragmented forests. She is interested in how different types of forest fragmentation (e.g. urban development, agriculture) influence the interactions between tree seedlings and other biotic components of an ecosystem.
