Teaching Interests/Research:
My favorite course to teach is the Math Across the Ages – which is a history of mathematics class at the precalculus level. Students see how problems in their precalculus mathematics courses actually are thousands of years old.
Professional Interests:
Algebraic coding theory. Topics of interest probability of an undetected error, runlength limited codes, and error detecting codes.
Personal Interests/Biography:
Dr. Perry was born and raised in Oklahoma, into a military family. Came to Hawaii when father was stationed here – I stayed when they left. Teaching experience at colleges across the Pacific: Majuro, Pohnpei, Yap, and Guam.
Married with three school aged children. Active chess player.
