Dr. Cindy Sears was born on Columbus Day in Tachikawa, Japan, and grew up with a love for people and animals. Cheerleading and tap-dancing occupied Dr. Sears until she went to college and fell in love with Occupational Therapy! She is passionate about all things OT, especially if tiny humans are involved! Her 30+ year OT career has been devoted to serving and supporting children, parents, students, teachers, adults, and caregivers struggling with their roles and the gap between where they are and where they want to be. Dr. Sears now has the gift of
serving and inspiring future occupational therapists to reach their goal of entering into our "dreamy" profession. Every day she feels so lucky to connect with the future of the OT profession!
Dr. Sears also loves her roles of being a wife, kid and dog mom, daughter, sister, aunt, and caregiver for her wild and wonderful `ohana! They equally teach her, encourage her and inspire her! She loves making memories with them at Walt Disney World, Lake Murray, and anywhere they can find a Broadway show or Harry Potter Convention! Fall is Dr. Sears’ favorite season because she loves fall weather, changing leaves, being outside, running, doing yoga, and watching football. Go Eagles! Her favorite place to be is cuddled up on the couch with her twin Maltipoos and husband Jeff drinking coffee and watching a good Netflix series, Gray’s Anatomy, The Resident, Chicago PD, or any romantic comedy she can talk Jeff into watching!
Dr. Sears has been fortunate to have traveled to 5 different continents and learned about many of the unique cultures and people who live there. Her trip to Rwanda Africa even gifted her with an adopted daughter named Virginia! She looks forward to learning more about the Hawai`ian and Pacific Asian cultures as a member of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Faculty at Hawai`i Pacific University.
