Shayna Inafuku is a Native Hawaiian Physician Assistant who is dedicated to serving Hawaiʻi. Upon completing her education at the University of Southern California as a Native Hawaiian Health Scholar, Shayna Inafuku returned home to serve at Waikiki Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). She worked at both the Ohua and Youth Outreach clinics providing primary and preventative medical care for patients of all ages. In addition to her clinical position, she served as the lead medical provider on two federally funded grants: (1) 1422 Program – promotion of healthful behaviors and best practices through community-clinic linkage strategies to decrease health disparities and prevent obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke; (2) Wahine Talk- a comprehensive sexual health program for homeless and run away females between the ages of 14-22. These roles allowed her to actively engage in delivering quality healthcare to the medically underserved and working on interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Shayna Inafuku is passionate about the unique health needs of Hawaiian communities and so honored to be a part of the first homegrown PA program in the State of Hawai‘i. She is excited to work with the next generation of medical providers and is committed to encouraging cultural competency and humility in faculty, staff, and student development.
She is a member of the American Academy of PAs, the Physician Assistant Education Association, and the Hawaiʻi Academy of Physician Assistants. Shayna is also a co-author of Aloha Affirmations, a children's book that incorporates values of Hawaiian culture to teach children about compassion, empathy, self-love, and confidence.
Shayna Inafuku was born on the island of Oʻahu and raised in the town of Kailua, where she continues to reside today with her ʻohana.
