SUPPORT OCEANIC INSTITUTE
By 2030, about 62% of all seafood will come from aquaculture and global aquaculture production will have to more than double by 2050 to meet the demand of about 9.7 billion people. In light of the increasing importance of aquaculture in meeting global seafood demand, there is an urgency to develop sustainable technologies to grow aquatic protein cheaply and effectively. Aquaculture can also be used as a valuable tool in marine conservation to protect our world’s oceans and coral reefs.
It is within this context that we ask for your financial support so that OI researchers can continue developing the aquaculture tools for today and tomorrow. Your support will help us develop technologies for the production of food fish for Hawaiian fishponds and colorful reef fish for the aquarium trade. Your support will also help us maintain our unique infrastructure and biological inventory of live animals.
Please support OI now to help fund our research, feed the world, and protect our ocean’s resources.
