New Students
Aloha and congratulations on your acceptance to Hawaiʻi Pacific University. The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) will provide you the resources needed to become a successful HPU student from immigration and cultural adjustment advising, to programming and collaboration with other HPU departments.
The maintenance of your immigration status begins even before your arrival in the U.S and lasts throughout your time at HPU. The new student section of our website will provide you with information on how to obtain your SEVIS issued I-20 or DS-2019, direct you to the pre-departure handbook, guide you to the where to sign up for orientation, and remind you to check in with OISS upon arrival for your immigration document check-in.
Please note, that it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that your I-20 does not expire in the event you need more time to complete a program or moving to another program at HPU (e.g from one semester visiting to degree seeking, from one semester visiting to two semester visiting, from bachelors program to masters program). Please always refer to the expiration/end date as listed on page 1 of your I-20 and contact OISS IMMEDIATELY way before it expires for those requiring additional time to complete a program or moving to another program here. FAILURE to do so once your I-20 has expired will render a SEVIS violation with dire and costly consequences with Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/ Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
