Christina Swafford
Academic Coach
Christina completed her M.A. in counseling psychology in 2023 and is currently working on her post-graduate hours to become a licensed mental health counselor. As a first-generation college student, Christina is interested in helping to promote the wellbeing, fulfillment, and success of college students. Her approach to working with students is strengths-based, student-led, and value-driven. Coined by psychiatrist Irvin Yalom, Christina views the helping relationship as one of “fellow travelers;” as we are all experiencing the bliss and challenges of life together. She has worked in various clinical settings, including an inpatient facility for serious mental health conditions, child-abuse intervention, and private practice therapy. Christina’s professional training includes the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders. Outside of work, Christina loves spending time with her dog, reading, and playing board games with friends.
