Kāwika Trang
Academic Coach
Kāwika is a pre-licensed mental health counselor with an M.A. in counseling psychology with a specialization in mental health counseling from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He has previously worked with adult school students in improving their reading, writing, and math skills; helping students prepare mentally and academically for their GED tests; and assisting students in setting and achieving career, academic, and personal goals at Waipahu Community School for Adults. Additionally, he has worked as a faculty member at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he mentored undergraduate and graduate students in navigating college, figuring out post-grad life, and obtaining their doctorate degree. He also taught classes in planetary science to both science and engineering majors. He participated in two NASA missions including an asteroid sample return and is still active in researching the surfaces of planets, moons, and asteroids of the inner Solar System.
