Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Each fall and spring semester, HPU welcomes members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society into the incoming transfer class. Eligible community college transfer students who currently hold active Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) membership may qualify for the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship valued at $5,000 per year ($2,500 award fall and spring).
ELIGIBILITY: Incoming community college transfer applicants who are active members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Applicants should identify themselves as PTK members on the admissions application, and subsequently submit this PTK scholarship form, which also requires a PTK advisor letter of recommendation.
• Students must be applying for admission as a transfer student to HPU directly from the community college where they are active PTK members.
• A minimum 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and 45 transferable credit hours from the institution where the transfer student is a member of PTK is preferred.
• A recommendation and proof of current membership by a chapter PTK adviser is required.
• If admitted to HPU, the PTK scholarship will be in addition to the undergraduate academic merit scholarship awarded.
• Part-time students, students taking dual credits while still in high school and students with previous bachelor's degrees are not eligible.
• The scholarship is awarded prior to first time undergraduate enrollment at HPU.
• Maximum PTK scholarship award is four semesters (fall and spring only), provided that scholarship recipients are full-time enrolled (12 credits minimum per semester) and maintain a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
• PTK scholarship is not awarded for summer terms.
• PTK scholarship is applicable for HPU undergraduate tuition only.
• HPU funded scholarships (including PTK, Merit, Talent, Athletic, etc.) cannot exceed total tuition cost (not including fees). Institutional scholarships may be reduced so that the total amount awarded (internal and external (tuition) awards) do not exceed tuition.
• Tuition scholarship programs such as, but not limited to, California Match and Holomua Commitment, the PTK scholarship will be included as part of the HPU institutional award to meet the scholarship program commitments.
• Tuition discount programs such as, but not limited to, Tuition Exchange, community partnership programs, or Faculty/Staff spousal or dependent discounts cannot be stacked with HPU institutional scholarships or grants, including the PTK scholarship.
