DIRECT SUBSIDIZED LOANS
ELIGIBILITY AND PROGRAM INFORMATION:
For undergraduate students who have the financial need; the U.S. Department of Education generally pays the interest while the student is in school and during certain other periods; student must be at least half-time. The interest rate is 4.53% for loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2019 and before July 1, 2020, and fixed for the life of the loan. Borrowers may not receive this type of loan for more than 150 percent of the length of their program of study; the U.S. Department of Education may stop paying interest if a student who received Direct Subsidized Loans for the maximum period continues enrollment.
ANNUAL AWARD AMOUNTS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
Up to $5.500, depending on grade level, dependency status and financial need.

DIRECT UNSUBSIDIZED LOANS
ELIGIBILITY AND PROGRAM INFORMATION:
For undergraduate and graduate professional student; student must be at least half-time; financial need is not required. The iinterest rate is 4.53% (undergraduate) and 6.08% (graduate or professional) for loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2019 and before July 1, 2020, and fixed for the life of the loan.
ANNUAL AWARD AMOUNTS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
Up to $20,500 (less any subsidized amount received for the same period), depending on grade level and dependency status.

DIRECT PLUS LOANS (PARENT AND GRADUATE)
ELIGIBILITY AND PROGRAM INFORMATION:
For parents of dependent undergraduate and for graduate students; borrower is responsible for all interest; student must be at least half-time; financial need is not required. Interest rate is 7.08% for loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2019 and before July 1, 2020, and fixed for the life of the loan.
ANNUAL AWARD AMOUNTS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
The maximum amount is up to cost of attendance minus any other financial aid received.

NURSE FACULTY LOAN PROGRAM (NFLP)
ELIGIBILITY AND PROGRAM INFORMATION:
The purpose of the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP) is to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty by providing loans to part-time and full-time students enrolled in the Master of Science in Nursing or the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. After graduation, 85% of the total NFLP loan is forgiven over a four-year period while loan recipients serve as full-time nurse faculty at a School of Nursing (i.e., baccalaureate or higher degree, associate degree, or diploma schools of nursing).
ANNUAL LOAN OFFER (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
Up to $40,000, depending on the availability of funds.

FEDERAL PERKINS LOANS
ELIGIBILITY AND PROGRAM INFORMATION:
**The Perkins Loan program expired on 6/30/2018 and is no longer being awarded.
REPAYMENT OF PERKINS LOANS
Hawai‘i Pacific University uses a billing service provider (Heartland ECSI) to handle all Perkins accounts. This service allows you to view your account and make online payments. Loan account information is available on the Heartland ECSI website (https://heartland.ecsi.net/). You will need a heartland key in order to connect your Heartland ECSI account to your NFLP Loan.
